Main Object:Concept & Sculpting

Reference:

well, part of the reference is for buildings of humans/ghosts Lolhaha

I was looking if there is any legendary animals related to the theme of justice and fair, and then I found Xie Zhi in Chinese myth, a mythical animal who can identify kindness and evilness; Xie Zhi has often been used as a symbol for places like court, so I decided to add Xie Zhi in my scene; below is some of the images of XieZhi in different forms.

A very sketch concept for my main subject – the above is the Xie Zhi, and the below is like an office with a huge screen that conveys Night Comes, Mortals Stay at Home; it is very sketchy because I ran out of time, the only mind I had is get all the building concepts done as soon as possible — I got like at least 10 types of buildings/props I need to model

I mean…I did feel regret about my choice of topic…It would be much easier and I could go for like a more detailed and varied concept for the main subject if I was doing something not that stylised. But the thing has been decided, so…just keep going.

Start with a very abstract face and therefore set the proportion for the whole object; then put simple geometry shapes as the rest of the body and then refine them by using brushes like clay, snake hook, polish and pinch.

In addition, I finished this little sculpture within a day haha I feel that’s the result of practices during the summer holiday.

Also, Learning from past experiences, I made a ZTOOL backup at every major progress point. In the end, I had five different stages of my main object’s development.
